     Dr. David Lasocki retired as Head of Music Reference Services in the Cook Music Library, Indiana University--Bloomington in February 2011 and now lives in Portland, Oregon. He is viewed as one of the world's foremost researchers of the history of woodwind instruments. He holds a Ph.D. in musicology from The University of Iowa (1983), and his dissertation won a national prize. One of his articles and two of the books he co-authored also won prizes, and he received a lifetime achievement award from the American Recorder Society in 2011.
