What happened if you didn’t have the performing forces to play a string concerto in the Baroque period? Why, you arranged it for the forces you did have. Here’s an example of one of the great concerti grossi by Corelli arranged as a recorder trio sonata by a Baroque woodwind player who published more recorder music than anyone else in that period: Schickhardt (128 sonatas, trio sonatas, and concertos). Since Schickhardt omittted one of the slow movements, I arranged it myself. Pure musical fun!
