Essential playing and study for all recorder and traverso players! The pure French style! You all know Hotteterre’s treatise, suites, and trio sonatas. But do you know the collection of vocal music that he compiled and arranged for two or three flutes? At the end of that collection is a set of vocal pieces transcribed for solo flute, to which Hotteterre added ornamented “doubles” (variations). Here we have my edition of these solo pieces, for which I went back to the vocal music and proofread Hotteterre’s readings. I also lined up the ornamented versions with the originals, for ease of study, and added the basso continuo parts wherever possible. As a bonus, my article about the “doubles” in this set is included at the end of the edition.
